We are
covered with non-reliable partial knowledge that we have accrued ever since we
were born. We are wholly attached to it and we are not ready to accept it as partial and non-reliable at the first or the second glance.
It is this knowledge - although we are not aware
of this aspect - that prevents us from seeing The Whole Being that we are, the
Universal Consciousness that lies in the far end of our consciousness.
This is
the Yore, the Higher Goal, the Eternal Soul or what is described by many other
superlative and idealistic names in different cultures by different teachers.
Magnificent as it sounds, this grand state of being is the heritage of every woman
and man alive on the face of earth, even though it requires great discretion
and effort to get at, or even take a glimpse of, due to the extremities
covering its pureness.
This reality,
although being omnipresent throughout every moment of our day and night, rarely gets a
chance to pop its head over the surface of our reality, so that it is noticed by our conscious
mind, other than at a random, unexpected occasion now and then. This moment is not something that is willed by us, and in fact it happens at a moment the least willed, since our
will is one main component making it stay hidden, dived down under the flow.
This moment
can come as something particularly noticeable, enlightening and refreshing,
giving hope, or as shedding light to a totally unknown aspect of our life. One
who is exposed to a strong instance of this moment will have its impact
running for weeks or months to come, and a particularly enlightening moment
could have a life-changing impact.
A
life-changing moment may be rare phenomenon and be met only by a handful of people
among us, but brief moments of sighting of our basis or the Higher Truth is a
common experience to all of us.
Common but still a rare occurrence, you
cannot expect to experience it every day, but when it does there emerges a
beacon for us to show the path we need to take for the next step in our journey
towards wholeness, our spiritual perfection, the purpose of our life.
These
moments may appear and disappear, like shooting stars in the night sky, rare
but impressive and if we do not take notice of them, they will have no more
power than a vague night dream that we have already forgotten when getting up
in the morning.
This is
where the second step of our path comes into play, tracking these moments of
insight – sights into the inner being.
If there
are no such moments occurring there will be nothing to track of course, so we
need to be aware of the process of these insights popping and keep a track of
it.
Being
conscious of the moments of insight make their effect much powerful, and this is where tracking becomes important. When you are on the
look-out, being ready to capture the moment the next insight dawns.
If we
are diligent in our tracking we will be conscious of the trail it is pointing
to. The path leading to higher insight,
that lies through the lush forest of partial and false knowledge.
So well
grown and luxuriant the forest of partial reality is, at the very best it does
not leave any more space than to a scantily marked and hard to notice trail. At
the beginning so, but when you find out the way through the signs a little
towards the interior, it starts to become more and more manifest.
And for
clearing the path the already mentioned first step is important. Dissolving
attachments.
The more successful you are
in dissolving the key points, the more frequent you are met with the beacons.
It is like
the exercise of emptying a well full of water. The more diligent you are in the
exercise, the better chance you have of seeing the bottom, provided you also manage to seal the
strong fountains that keep refilling it with more and more fresh water.
The more detachment you practice the better chance
your higher being gets to manifest itself by way of flashes of insight by showing the trail of insight leading to its universal abode.
