How enlightened am I already?

Hi My Friends,

Here are few questions that someone intent on spiritual development may get at the start.

'What is the sure practice to reach the highest spiritual goal?'

'What magic formula can open me up to the state of highest consciousness?'

The surprise answer is; you don’t need a practice to reach the highest spiritual goal!

Just be whatever there is in your mind; that is the purest form of reality there is to attain to. The state of knowing all is present right there with you.

You do not need to control anything, make changes or adapt yourself to get to it. It is right there in you just as you are!

I am sure many of you may have heard this statement already.

It may be the case that, you are not ready to accept what you are right now has anything to do with the highest spiritual attainment; which we call ‘enlightenment’.

‘What I am at present is incomplete’, ‘ I have a long distance to cover to get to the highest goal’. These may be your present conviction on your current progress in the spiritual journey.

If these are the judgments that you get when looking at your current state, then obviously you need to do something!

This is because you lack the power of acceptance to see the enlightenment that you already possess!

So although you do not need a practice to get to the highest goal that you already possess, you need a practice to be courageous to accept it!

My friends, when talking about enlightenment, it is well known there are different levels to it; the best and the highest being the full enlightenment, followed by lesser ones.

The full enlightenment permeates into your whole being making you aware of your total unity with the universe.

In lesser states one becomes partially aware of one’s wholeness of enlightenment.

So how enlightened am I, you may wonder.

The answer is, you are already enlightened in full! The same enlightenment that the men of highest spiritual achievement that you read lived in the past entered. And the same achievement those fully enlightened in the present are enjoying.

Only what you lack again is the necessary power of acceptance to see it.

If you think for a while, what you lack is a simple act of acceptance, a willingness or bravery to see the fully enlightened state you are in already!

So what can you do to make yourself accept it?

My friends, acceptance is the great practice capable of making you see the full enlightenment that you already possess.

Acceptance of everything, without choice, just as they are, without comments. Accepting every approaching moment with whatever it brings just as it is.

This act of acceptance is somewhat different from the act of acceptance that we are normally familiar with.

Normally we only accept what pleases us, what we want to happen or what is agreeable to us.

Anything else we will not accept but we will evaluate whether we need to get rid of, reject or fight with it.

The spiritual acceptance that we need to see our enlightenment is to accept every moment as it is.

No matter whatever is present right now, the moment when you see you simply accept it.

Or to be precise, just let it be there.

You do not like it or dislike it. But let it be there like the earth does not care whether it’s a saint or a murderer who is standing on it.

This is a practice of giving freedom to your thoughts to appear as they please. Normally what you do is to like a certain set of thoughts and dislike another set. So there is both discrimination and favoritism in there.

In the practice of acceptance you give full freedom to all your thoughts to appear as they are, and let them be there under your investigation.

The moment you can see your thought from aloof you are already enlightened as the thought loses its power over you.

It is possible to be enlightened momentarily like this for anyone; a proper mastery of the practice will enable one to sustain the acceptance continuously for longer periods.

That is, we all can become partially enlightened at any time. To see our fully enlightened state, It requires a longer journey.

So one may get distracted by the next thought of liking or dislike and totally lose the power of acceptance at that thought.

But the beauty of the practice is even when distracted, one always has the opportunity to generate the power of acceptance and distance oneself from the train the moment one becomes conscious again.

So there is room for enlightenment at any time.

Acceptance is a moment of no-choice and in the spiritual acceptance one is unshaken by what is presented by the moment, seeing what is happening with equanimity.

In the acceptance there is only one activity of being open. It has no room for surprise, fear, happiness or sorrow.

There is the steadiness of standing leading one to clarity of vision of what is confronted.

The mind becomes transparent like a pond full of clear still water, making you see all that is there at the bottom leaving no space for any fancy of all that is not there.

This is the grand knowledge that you earn in the stillness of mind, which we call the highest achievement or highest state of consciousness.

The insight that you get in this state is unparalleled by any other knowledge; the kind of knowledge that act as coloring agents to the water of pond. With the colors one loses sight of the bottom and what is there and what is not there. With insight one sees the real medium everyone is based on, which is the crystal clear water of the pond free of any coloring.

Thanks my friends!

Appreciate your feedback!

Good luck!
